Mr Pek Kian Aik (Alan) works as Assistant Vice president with the Technology organization of a global bank where he has worked for over 26 years. As a senior member of the team, he oversees global IT infrastructure and is trained in machine language, cloud and artificial intelligence. Alan is a senior member of the bank’s employee resource group focusing on disability inclusion. He has been working with HWA as an ExCo member since 2013. An optimist at heart, Alan believes that attitude defines dimensions of living.

Heather Wong is a successful entrepreneur and chartered accountant who has founded her own e-commerce startup. She also shares her knowledge as a university lecturer in corporate law and is passionate about championing disability inclusion.

Ms Wee Toon Lin was formerly from the civil service industry and had various experiences in supervisory, financial and administrative roles. She is passionate in volunteering her services after working hours.

Ms Michelle Siew is a retired Senior Manager (Resouce Management) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource. She has served in HWA for many years and is very passionate about the developmental and emotional needs of the disability community.

With over 22 years of service as HWA Board Member, Desiree brings her extensive expertise and dedication to the association. She has a distinguished 50-year career in accounting, rising from junior roles to management positions within the construction industry.
Desiree’s journey of growth at HWA extends beyond her contributions to the board. She pursued learning to drive through HWA, reflecting her commitment to personal development and independence. She represented Singapore as a Paralympic sailor in 2002, 2008, and 2012, and is currently active in the sport of para lawn bowls and the promotion of short mat (a shorter version of lawn bowls) among the public community. She also actively participates in HWA’s drumming activities, showcasing her talent in public performances.

Mr. Edgar Cheong holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychological Science and is currently a manager at SkillsFuture. Previously, he worked on Early Intervention Programmes with the Early Childhood Development Agency.
In his spare time, Edgar is passionate about advocating for the disability community and participates in Wheelchair Rugby, a disability sport.

Mr Palanisamy Avaday has been working with a non-profit organisation for 32 years and is a grassroots leader volunteer at Taman Jurong CC.

Ms Judy Wee first joined HWA’s Executive Committee in 1984 and served for more than 20 years. She has since resumed her duties after taking a break for a decade. Judy champions the need for an accessible and inclusive environment to promote the inclusion and participation of people with disabilities into mainstream society.

Christina is a spinal cord injury survivor and an active member of HWA. She is also a mouth painting artist with the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) and a para table tennis athlete with the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC).
With over 20 years as a wheelchair user, Christina has volunteered at Singapore General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She showcases and sells her paintings at exhibitions, conducts live mouth-painting demonstrations, and trains regularly for para table tennis. Guided by her belief — “Don’t be afraid of failure; regardless of the circumstance you face, never quit” — she is committed to giving back to the disability community.
Mr. Larry Chong Yun Ming

Larry is currently the HR and Telesales Manager with Manulife Singapore, a role he has held since October 2024. He connects with potential candidates and guides them through the onboarding process, while also training and mentoring his telesales team to achieve successful outcomes.
Before joining Manulife, Mr Chong worked as a Property Sales Manager. A member of HWA since 1987, he aspires to help persons with disabilities lead more fulfilling and independent lives.
Ms. Julie Seah Swee Kheng

Julie joined HWA in 2020 and is active in the Chinese Drum, Floor Curling, and Guzheng groups.
A freelance procurement professional and long-time community volunteer, Julie has contributed to organisations such as the People’s Association (PA), Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC), and previously with Soroptimist International.
Her experiences have deepened her commitment to disability inclusion, and she hopes to use her skills and experience to give back and grow together with the disability community.
