Dear Donor,

SUPPORT FRAIL ELDERLIES THIS FESTIVE SEASON – YOUR HELP BRINGS COMFORT & CARE (HONG BAO FESTIVE APPEAL 2024 – 2025)

My name is Tan Ah Chai, and I am 81 years old. In 2015, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. My husband passed away in 2020 and I became a widow. I moved on with life though I was sad. Over time, my condition worsened, and I was bedridden in 2022. Since then, my life has been confined to my bed at home.

I have only one daughter. She tries to take care of me in her own way—like making sure my meals are settled but there is a limit she can do as she has her own health problems and struggles. While she did what she could, there were many times when we felt that we both needed more support.

There are many frail elderlies out there who are confined to their homes like me and we need HWA services. This support is only made possible by your generosity. To continue making a difference in our lives, you can visit Giving.sg campaign or complete the donation form to support HWA so that it could continue to run its programmes and services for our benefits and welfare.

Thankfully, I was referred to HWA and became a beneficiary of HWA’s Home Care Service for Personal Hygiene & Housekeeping as well as HWA’s Medical Escort Transport Service. The healthcare attendant from HWA would come to my house to help me with bathing, transferring from my bed, changing my diapers, and keeping my home clean twice a week. There is also an escort to bring me to hospital appointments. Their care brought me comfort and a sense of dignity in my old age.
